Mission & Vision

Department of Dairy Microbiology was started right at the beginning of the erstwhile college of Dairy Science in the year 1979, and the name has been changed to Department of Dairy and Food Microbiology. The role of microorganism in the manufacture of Fermented Milks & other Products or causing spoilage in the milk and milk products is well known. Microorganisms are ubiquitous and therefore can’t be neglected. Emphasis has therefore been given to courses related to Dairy & Food Microbiology.

Goals

With this ambition, the department of Dairy & Food Microbiology offer 13 courses to both Dairy Tech. and Food  Tech. at U.G. level. One course on Biotechnology (Dairy & Food) has also been included for Providing  knowledge to the students in the area of Biotechnology. Besides advance courses in Dairy & Food Microbiology at P.G. level(M. Sc., Ph.D.) are likely to be approved by the University and subsequently the P.G. programs will be started in the subject in the coming years.

Short Courses proposals have been prepared to provide adequate technical knowledge are to be started about the recent techniques to the in service personnel working in the field of quality assurance.
