A graduate program of DAIRY TECHNOLOGY was started in the erstwhile university of Udaipur in the year 1978 in the Rajasthan College of Agriculture, which led to the establishment later on in 1982 of a separate college. complete construction and development infrastructure was planned in phases. Dr. L. K. MurdiaDairy and Food Sector is the back bone for the large majority of the rural masses in the country as well as in the state of Rajasthan. Dairy and Food Industry contributed towards the tremendous progress recorded by the agriculture sector in our country. On account of the fast development in the processing and packaging industry, the requirement of the processed food has increased tremendously for the society for domestic consumption as well as for export. Keeping this in view, the Strategic Development Project of the Rajasthan Agriculture University accepted the suggestions of the college and consequently recommended the widening of the scope of the then Dairy Science College by converting into Dairy and Food Science Technology.


The College has five departments namely: Department of Dairy and Food Chemistry, Department of Dairy and Food Engineering, Department of Dairy and Food Technology, Department of Dairy & Food Management & Economics and Department of Dairy & Food Microbiology. The college is equipped with complete infrastructure facilities required for teaching, research and extension activities related to dairy and food sectors.

Besides the above, facilities of some departments of College of Technology and Agriculture Engineering, Rajasthan College of Agriculture and College of Home Science are also available to the students of this college as they received instructions from teaching staff of these colleges for some courses offered to them. The College has competent faculty available for the core subjects and a few more positions are likely to be created soon with the assistance of the state Govt. particularly for Food Technology Component.
